The military this week honored a sailor from Hawaii Kai for his service in Iraq.
Lt. Sean S. Kido led a team that led to the capture of 315 known or suspected insurgents, the seizure and destruction of 198,000 rounds of enemy small arms and 2,600 pounds of ordnance. Kido's Special Operations Task Force - West completed more than 100 missions.
On top of that, Kido is credited with leading the team when two improvised explosive devices hit it. He helped to get his team out of the area and coordinating responding airborne cover and evacuation.
"I'm proud to have this award and be in the company of the very deserving recipients who have and do wear this award," Kido said. "We were just trying to do what we could to complete the mission, make the area safer and get everyone back home safely."
Rear Adm. Rick Wren presented Kido with the Bronze Star on July 2
